Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Predictive & Prescriptive Modeling)

Location: Saint Petersburg. Possible business trips to UAE
Start date: December 2025 ASAP

We are looking for an experienced Machine Learning Engineer with strong expertise in time-series forecasting and decision-support modeling. The project involves developing predictive and prescriptive models, integrating diverse data sources, and deploying modular components into production systems.

Responsibilities:

• Build and test regional AI models for floods, droughts, and other hydrological extremes;
• Apply deep learning architectures to time-series and gridded data;
• Develop and maintain data pipelines for climate, geospatial, and model output data;
• Communicate results clearly to a mixed team of ML engineers and domain scientists.

Requirements

• Strong Python skills and experience building ML models with PyTorch or TensorFlow plus scikit-learn;
• Experience with time-series and/or image/gridded data (e.g. using pandas, NumPy, xarray or similar tools);
• Comfortable working in a Linux environment with Git and basic software engineering practices;
• Able to explain modeling choices and results in clear written and spoken English;
• Willingness to learn hydrology and Earth-science concepts on the job.

Nice to Have:

• Any experience with geospatial data (GeoTIFF, shapefiles, GeoPandas) or physical models (e.g. SWAT/SWAT+).

Working conditions:
